Cipro, 2008. Organizzato dal progetto 'Comenius' della Comunità Europea, si è svolto un Seminario sull'Intelligenza Emotiva di Goleman, intitolato 'Action Methods Improving Motivation and Quality in the Learning situation', dedicato alla didattica dei 'metodi attivi' con i gruppi. E' stato selezionato un referente per ciascun Paese dell'Unione Europea. Bella responsabilità avevo a rappresentare l’Italia!
Goleman, insegnante di Psicologia a Harvard, ha scritto l’ “Intelligenza Emotiva”, a cui hanno fatto seguito parecchi altri libri, tra cui ricordiamo: “Lavorare con Intelligenza Emotiva”; “Intelligenza sociale”. Goleman parte dal presupposto che siamo ‘analfabeti emozionalmente’ e che l’analfabetismo emozionale costa sempre caro nella vita. Pertanto Goleman vede nell’Intelligenza Emotiva e nel saper ‘dirigere con il cuore’ un’occasione da cogliere, all’interno del più vasto discorso delle Intelligenze Multiple.
Comenius Il programma settoriale Comenius riguarda tutto l'arco dell'istruzione scolastica: risponde alle esigenze didattiche e di apprendimento di tutte le persone, gli istituti e le organizzazioni coinvolte in questo tipo di istruzione. - Sviluppare la conoscenza e la comprensione della diversità culturale e linguistica europea e del suo valore
Le attività previste rientrano in questa attività gli scambi di alunni e personale della scuola, la mobilità individuale degli alunni, l'assistentato per futuri insegnanti, la possibilità per il personale docente di effettuare tirocini presso istituti scolastici o imprese, la formazione in servizio per il personale docente e le visite preparatorie per mobilità, partenariati, progetti o reti.

NAME OF THE ORGANISATION: Frederick University Cyprus PREPARATION : The participants will read Daniel Goleman's Emotional Intelligence and some other articles sent them before the course. they will prepare a) a poster presentation of their school and the activities in the school and 2) voluntarily a presentation on one of the course topics, for instance how the motivation and quality are promoted in their schools OBJECTIVES: The course is based on the excellent results of the two Comenius 2.2. courses on Group Dynamics and Social Skills in the Classroom (held in Finland 2002, Cyprus 2004, 2005,2006 and in Portugal 2007) and Comenius 2.2. Course on Action Methods Improving Motivation and Quality in the Learning Situation (Malta 2006, 2007, Cyprus 2008 and Italy 2008). The Comenius Project on Social Skills and Group Dynamics in the Classroom was selected to the European Success Stories 2008.
Teachers can do a lot to improve the motivation level in the learning situations, for instance: * setting a positive climate for learning * clarifying the purpose of the learning * organizing and making available the learning resources * balancing the intellectual and emotional components of learning *sharing feelings and thoughts with learners, but not dominating
METHODOLOGY: The methods that will be used are action methods, group discussions and reflections, drama, creative arts, lots of peer support and also excursions
PROGRAMME OF THE TRAINING ACTIVITIES I: Getting to know each others; Group forming; Reflection and implementation in the classroom II: Safety in the group; Health education; Emotional Intelligence III: School visits; Excursion IV Art and Drama workshops V: Group work on critical incidents; Paper Presentations; Reflection and implementation in the classroom; Ending exercises; Evaluation and closing
